This will be an informal Critique Session held in Julie Timm’s studio using the methods and ideas presented in Margaret Bohls’ overview of the topic presented at the May 23^rd workshop. If you missed the workshop or would like a review, check out Margaret’s notes.

Bring a piece or two for review, no food this time but bring a beverage if you wish. Hope to see you there!

Fundamentals of Critiques:
With this session we hope to launch the creation of member-organized critique groups.

Margaret Bohls has a wealth of information on this topic and will give us an overview of various critique methods. We will then break into smaller groups and try it out. For those of us looking for a more formal, yet non-intimidating way to get input from our peers, this will be a valuable session. ….A great opportunity to get input about a concept you feel is unresolved.

Description:
A certified Adobe Instructor will guide us through the process of preparing digital images for presentation, printing, and the web. This session will be tailored to our specific needs and includes:
- Understanding file formats
- Cropping/resizing
- Color correction
- Touch-ups, sharpening, etc.

You may bring two or three of your own images that you wish to work with.

The class will be taught on Apple/Mac computers using PhotoShop Elements 8 — But the skills apply equally to Windows PCs and earlier versions of PhotoShop.

This is a follow-up to the Photography Sessions held in January and March. However, you do not need to have attended either session to participate.

There are four spots remaining for this Photoshop Elements intensive training session.

MNWCA is announcing the second Session of our three-part Photography Series:

Looking Good: How to Photograph Your Work and Prepare Digital FilesPart Two – Photographing with Various Photo Set-Ups

We realize there was a conflict with the opening of Foot-in-the-Door Show on February 18, therefore, we’ve rescheduled our Photo Session to March 4th. We are pleased to be holding the session at the Minneapolis Photo Center. We will demonstrate a ’standard’ set-up with lights/backdrop as well as a set-up with the EZ-Cube for comparison.

Specifics — Photography Session:

Date: Thursday, March 4th
Time: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Location: Minneapolis Photo Center 2400 N Second Street – Minneapolis 55411

Please bring a piece or set to photograph; although we cannot guarantee that we’ll have time to photograph every piece. The Session is free to Members, $5 for non-Members. You can join or renew your Membership at the Session or click here to start the process online.

Our monthly programs begin Thursday January 21st

We are launching our monthly programs with a three-part series:
Looking Good: How to Photograph Your Work and Prepare Digital Files

Part 1 – January 21: Critique of images and overview of methods, cameras and equipment — discussion led by Mary Roettger and Margaret Bohls
We will take a critical look at images submitted to the 2009 Exhibition, and discuss various options available for photographing your work and the pros and cons of each.
